KITE's lead school is Trenance Learning Academy, which part of Kernow Learning which consists of 19 primary schools across Cornwall.
Trenance is a large infant school situated in Newquay and is at the forefront in leading educational development: is a newly designated Teaching School Hub (only two in Cornwall, 87 nationally), a DfE English Hub and is also an Associate Research School. Being part of the KITE programme helps to ensure that all trainees have the opportunity to engage in a range of additional outstanding training opportunities and experiences.
KITE are proud to work in partnership with the internationally renowned University of Exeter which is part of the Russell group, along with the University of St Mark and St John (Marjon) which is situated on the outskirts of Plymouth.
During their studies individuals will have access to the same level of support and facilities as students who are studying at the university, for example, a designated tutor who also comes and visits individuals in school on a termly basis, academic support, financial support, access to library facilities and confidential mental health and well-being support.
On completing the School Direct programme, individuals will be awarded credits towards a Masters degree, along with QTS.
Programmes for 2022-2023
For the academic year 2022-2023, KITE will be offering two programmes through the University of Exeter, Primary (3-7) and General Primary (5.11). This year, for the first time, we will be offering General Primary, specialising in SEND, through Marjon.
