We are seeking individuals who want to make a difference and are fully committed to improving the outcomes and lives of all pupils. You need to be energetic, hardworking, organised, creative and inspiring! Successful applicants will begin their training in September 2024.

The Programmes for 2024-2025

We are currently in the process of recruiting for the academic year 2024-2025 and will be offering two primary programmes. Both programmes are full-time and trainees need to self-fund themselves, although grants and loans are available (see Fees tab for further information).

Primary 3-7 Programme:

Our Primary 3-7 years PGCE leads to Qualified Teacher Status and will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a confident and competent teacher specialising in Key Stage 1 and the early years foundation stage.

During your training you will have one placement in Key Stage 1 and another in the Foundation Stage.

Primary 5-11 Programme:

Our Primary 5-11 years PGCE leads to Qualified Teacher Status and will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a confident and competent teacher specialising in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

During your training you will have one placement in Key Stage 1 and another in Key Stage 2.

Qualification:

Both of the teacher training courses on offer lead to QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and 60 Master’s Level credits.

The University of Birmingham award the PGCE aspect of the programme whilst the NIoT award the QTS.

Experience:

While experience in a school is not a condition of entry for initial teacher education courses we recommend that you take up opportunities to gain a realistic understanding of whether teaching is right for you. The Get Into Teaching School Experience Programme offers opportunities across the country to book a day’s worth of experience.

A realistic awareness of the teaching profession with the capacity to thrive in a demanding and fast moving environment. When applying, please use your personal statement to illustrate this.
