Programmes 2026-2027

KITE are recruiting post-graduates for the academic year 2026-2027! We are thrilled to be offering our full-time primary 5-11 teacher training programme. This programme will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a confident and competent teacher, specialising in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must have a UK Bachelor’s degree or equivalent by the time they start the programme in September 2026. They also need to have a GCSE grade C or 4 or above in English language, maths and science or equivalent. N.B. Any equivalents must have ENIC proof of equivalence certificate. We are able to provide further information on how to gain this if needed.

Original certificates (GCSE/equivalent and Degree/equivalent) will need to be seen before the start of the programme.

As part of our safer recruitment procedures, all individuals who accept a place on the programme will need to have an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check and all associated checks.

Qualifications:

The programme leads to a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and 60 Masters Credits. Our partner, the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), is the awarding body.

Placements:

We appreciate that the training year is intense, and therefore work hard to ensure that individuals are placed in schools, not too far from home (maximum of 40 minutes - although often less). All trainees are placed with experienced mentors (class teachers) who are fully committed to supporting and coaching the next generation of teachers.

Over the year, students have two placement schools: the main placement takes place during the autumn and summer terms (students return to the same class, with the same teacher) and the contrasting placement takes place during the spring term.

Experience:

Whilst experience of working or volunteering in a school is not a condition of entry for initial teacher education courses, we recommend that you take up opportunities to gain a realistic understanding of whether teaching is right for you.
