All teacher training courses are applied for via the Department for Education's 'Apply for Teacher Training' portal. Applications for the academic year 2027-2028 open on the 6th October 2026.

We recommend that you join us at one of our online information sessions prior to applying or, alternatively, get in touch, and we will arrange for one of the team to call you.

We can help you to ensure that your application presents you in the strongest possible way and that you stand out for all the right reasons.

Top tips when writing your personal statement:

• Both written and verbal communication are key skills required in teaching and your personal statement provides you with the opportunity to showcase your written skills.
• Make sure that you ask someone to proofread your application and personal statement to give you ideas and check your spelling, punctuation and grammar.
•  What is your motivation to teach?  Why have you chosen a particular phase of education, for example, primary or secondary? What can you bring to the profession, and how could your personal skills and qualities positively impact on pupils' achievement and wellbeing? What makes you stand out from other applicants?

• You will need to add two references to your application.
• References are only provided if you accept a place with a provider.
• If you are still studying, one reference must be from your academic tutor, and they should provide a predicted grade for your degree.
• Try to include a reference from your current or recent employer as they know you well. 
• If a reference is coming from a school, the referee should be the head teacher.
• Provide professional, rather than personal email addresses where possible.
